hi * a * tus

Definition - a : an interruption in time or continuity : break; especially : a period when something (as a program or activity) is suspended or interrupted

If you've ever wondered about the actual definition of "hiatus," not only have you gotten one straight from Merriam Webster, but you've also witnessed one on this blog. However, my hiatus is up, and I'm returning to my role as family blogger.

The 2011 Spring semester was a tough one for me. I was teaching two sections of Interpersonal Communication at MCPHS and two sections of Mass Communication at Wentworth Institute of Technology. All of my sections were over-enrolled and I ended up teaching five days per week. This starts to qualify as "full time" even though I was teaching at two seperate colleges. My days were filled with commuting to the city, coming home in nasty traffic, and trying to correct papers and exams (poorly-written papers and exams). However, grades are now posted and the crying (mine and the students') seems to be subsiding. So here's a peak at what we've been up to in March, April and the beginning of May!

In March, my mom, little sister, Celina, and niece, Megan, came out from Portland, OR for a visit. Celina had a training conference for the Marriott in the city so Mom and Megan tagged along. We had a great time and ran all over the Boston area. I'll have to post pictures of those later.

In April, we had some work done on the driveway, had a friend stay with us for a few days while his mom had a new baby girl, and generally kept busy in the yard and playing in the house.

Here's part of the excavation of the driveway. We had it built up and covered with a gravel mix that is pretty solid. Where the bushes are will soon be an 8' privacy fence!

That same day, we took in our friend for an overnighter and played in the yard. Aiden took out one of his kites and gave flying a good effort. (He also decided April is the best month to wear Christmas shirts!)




After some fun outside, it was most definitely time for baths. In our house, we try our best to conserve water, so it was a double bath for our friend, CS, and Devin.

A good friend is one who will help you wash your back...

The Easter Bunny made his regular appearance at our house and we had a great time hunting for eggs and spending time with family.
