Slacker

slacker (noun) - one who deliberately avoids work or duty

Every once in a while, my blog goes unattended. However, I usually have a good reason for my slacking. This time it's been a crazy, crazy semester full of work, kids going to school, and a new baby. So, I'm going to attempt to make up for some missing information in one post! (I know you're excited.)

We last left off Aiden's birthday and a promise of more pictures. Well, we took him to Six Flags with a few friends and our babysitter, Rachael, who has since left us to go to BYU Idaho (the traitor).

After that, we had the first day of First Grade for Aiden, and the first day of Preschool for Devin.

After that, G&G Wrz visited and we spent Gramma Wrz's 60th birthday in Falmouth exploring Wood Hole and Martha's Vineyard.

Since then, we've had Halloween and some good-natured fun at home.

Malcolm is finally growing, but I will create a post just for him (you're welcome, Dad) so that he isn't slighted any.

My apologies for the delay in posting all of this. I'd say it won't happen again, but then I would be lying!

Six Flags!

The week after school got out, we grabbed our neighbor, Johanna, and our favorite babysitter, Rachael, and headed for Six Flags New England for some fun in the sun. The weather was perfect, and the crowds weren't too bad.

Because of a few delays, we got to the water park just in time for lunch. So we started out with a (very expensive) snack!

Then we headed for the water! These were the first real water slides the kids had been on, so there was a little trepidation.

But Devin jumped right into the wading pools.

Our babysitter was a life saver as most of these attractions are a bit much when you're 9 months pregnant.

The kids had a BLAST!

One of the favorite attractions for all three was the junior wave pool...

And the water spouts.

We finally convinced them to try the big wave pool, too.

After the water park, we tried out some rides.

It was a great day, and we plan to go back to celebrate Aiden's birthday there next month!

Playing hooky at the zoo!

Last Friday was beautiful weather in our area and the last day of my Spring Break. So we took Aiden out of school, nabbed a friend of his, and headed for Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence. It was a bit cooler than we'd hoped but the kids had a blast!

Working our way through the African exhibits. Aiden in on the right and his friend, Ashton, is on the left (he's a bit taller than Aiden but they're about the same age).

Aiden found a feather over by one of the cranes.

Looking for elephants (they were still inside because it was a bit early and chilly).

We tracked down the giraffes and elephants inside their barn.

Devin was enthralled!

Our friend, Ashton, is a bit of a cut-up (takes after his father). He saw the camera lens pointed his direction and gave me a few faces.

But I did eventually get some cute shots of the boys.

They had a lot of fun and we were grateful to steal away for a day of hooky!

Let's go fly a kite!

Up to the highest heights /
Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring /
Up through the atmosphere, up where the air is clear /
Oh. Let's. Go----. Fly a kite!

On Wednesday of this week, the weather was warm and windy--just perfect for kite flying! We're grateful to have a large, open yard where kite flying is possible and pulled out the kites to enjoy.

Devin had a bit of a time with the kites... He's not sure why they don't stay up on command.

After a few reminders to keep the wind at his back, Aiden was fairly successful with his kite.

We picked up an "Angry Birds" kite for him and he loved it!

Devin gave up on kites for a while to pursue other interests...

But even he had some luck after a while (and some help).

The kids stayed outside for close to TWO hours playing with kites and enjoying the weather!

We even got the neighbor girls into the act (that's a mini butterfly kite they're flying)!

We are loving this spring-like weather!
