Happy Anniversary Peanut!

One year ago today, we brought home a new member of our little "flock." We adopted Peanut, the quaker parakeet (which is actually a small parrot- not truly a parakeet), from Foster Parrots to be a companion for our other quaker parakeet, Pickles.

Peanut lived at Foster Parrots for seven of his eight (now nine) years and came with several cute phrases and noises. The video below just shows a few since Peanut is a little camera shy. Beyond what he says on the video, Peanut also says "Big bird, big bird" (which almost all the birds at Foster Parrots learn to say), "Pretty bird" (in a rather drawn out way), gives kisses, laughs and makes other funny little noises. We think he has also learned to imitate the sound of drinking.

If you happen to be interested, Foster Parrots is a non-profit rescue group in Rockland, MA that rescues birds of all types. They take in birds that have been neglected or abused or have been surrendered because they were too "noisy," "troublesome," "mean," etc. We don't know why Peanut was given to Foster Parrots but he is a lovely little bird who was only in need of some TLC. Foster Parrots has a very dedicated crew of volunteers and employees and is a very worthy cause if you ever feel like donating money somewhere.

Enjoy!
